PLANES USE OUR AIR SPACE EVERYDAY

Maple Ridge is located directly under many major route passages for airplanes arriving and departing at Vancouver International Airport (YVR). As well, we are situated between Pitt Meadows Airport (YPK) (http://flyypk.ca) and Abbotsford International Airport (YXX). Our unique location makes Maple Ridge a hub of activity for air traffic.

Being prepared for the possibility of an air crash in Maple Ridge is a necessity.

Emergency Management Plans are a system for managing emergencies and irregular operations at YVR, YPK and YXX. The management plans incorporate comprehensive training programs, simulation drills and live scenario exercises for emergency response personnel and agencies. These exercises give responders an opportunity to apply and enhance their skills, ensuring an efficient, effective and coordinated response to an emergency situation.

The Airport Authority's Emergency Management Plan is assessed and refined on an ongoing basis to incorporate knowledge gained through real-life and simulated emergencies, and the latest developments in airport safety and emergency management.
