May 19, 2018 update

The BC River Forecast Centre will be issuing a Flood Watch for areas not protected by dykes in the Lower Fraser River. Water levels are now expected to peak in the next 24 hours below levels seen in 2012. The Fraser River will remain at a high level over the next week and a second peak flow may occur next weekend depending on weather conditions in the Fraser River system. As a precaution, the City of Maple Ridge has activated the Emergency Operations Centre (EOC) to Level 1 and is closely monitoring conditions along the river and conducting daily dyke inspections. 2018 UPDATE

High Stream Flow Advisory for the Fraser River issued by the BC River Forecast Centre remains in effect. The Fraser River is projected to continue rising until Monday, May 21 at or near the levels that were seen in June of 2012. River levels are forecast to level off for the balance of the week and the BC River Forecast Centre has indicated that the levels could rise again next weekend. As a precaution, the City of Maple Ridge has activated the Emergency Operations Centre (EOC) to Level 1 and is closely monitoring conditions along the river and conducting daily dyke inspections. May 15, 2018 Update


The level of the Fraser River has continued to rise as projected by the BC River Forecast Centre. However the forecast show that, based on weather conditions similar levels to the 2012 Freshet may be reached by the end of the Victoria Day weekend. Media Release

The BC River Forecast Centre monitors water levels along the Fraser River and updates their forecast models based on the evolving conditions and data. Water levels and flow rates along the Fraser River are projected to increase throughout the weekend. Media Release
