128 Avenue Road and Drainage Improvements (210 Street to 224 Street)

Project Information

The City is undertaking road widening and drainage improvements on 128 Avenue from 210 Street to 224 Street.  The work generally consists of complete reconstruction of the existing two lane roadway to a four lane arterial roadway that involves major drainage culverts, storm sewer installation, street lighting, intersection upgrades, paved multi-use path, gravel equestrian path east of 216 Street, environmental works, etc. Road improvements and construction of a multi-use pathway is co-funded by TransLink.

210 Street to 216 Street

Construction is substantially complete with four lanes of traffic in operation. Work to be completed in spring 2017 includes environmental works/landscape planting in the ditch and swale.

216 Street to 224 Street

Construction is substantially complete with four lanes of traffic expected to be in operation the week of December 19, 2016. Final top lift asphalt paving will be completed in spring 2017. Following top lift of asphalt, the 224 Street/Abernethy Way intersection will be opened to 4 lanes in the east-west direction and a westbound left turn lane introduced at Blackstock Street. Motorists, cyclists, pedestrians and equestrians are encouraged to use alternate routes during construction.  Your patience is appreciated during construction.
