The City is nearing completion with urbanizing 203 Street from Dewdney Trunk Road to Golden Ears Way. The work generally consisted of complete roadway reconstruction, requiring new sidewalk with curb and gutter installation, street lighting, bi-directional protected bike lanes and green pavement markings.
The bi-directional protected bikeway is now open. This latest addition to the City’s expanding “All Ages and Abilities” (AAA) cycling network connects cyclists from the commercial area north to Golden Ears Way and east to the 123 Avenue bikeway. When driving or cycling along this section of 203 Street, users will notice certain areas of the roadway and bikeway painted green. The intent of the green painted areas is to identify where there may be potential conflict between cars and bicycles and to emphasize that cyclists have priority over entering and exiting traffic.
The remaining works to be completed in the bike lanes include the installation of bollards and clean up on 203 Street from Dewdney Trunk Road through to Powell Avenue.
Thank you for your patience during construction of this project.
