In November 2016 our Parks, Recreation & Culture division launched the “Community Facilities Conversation” to introduce the community to the suite of infrastructure projects that were being proposed to achieve the vision for a high quality of life in Maple Ridge.
On Tuesday, July 12 Council developed a plan that addresses the gaps identified in the 2010 Parks, Recreation & Culture Master Plan. The projects that have been selected respond to the community’s desire to take a balanced approach to planning, including enhancements to existing assets. A number of these projects will proceed relatively quickly to deliver much needed facility improvements to the community such as: the conversion of two grass fields to synthetic, Leisure Centre upgrades and the development of the Albion Community Centre which is currently in progress. Some projects will move forward subject to public approval on borrowing the necessary funds to cover the costs of these projects.
