Recreation is for Everyone

Maple Ridge and Pitt Meadows Parks & Leisure programs are accessible to people of all abilities. The Municipal Advisory Committee on Accessibility Issues is a committee that advocates on behalf of citizens with disabilities in the community. The Special Services Department strives to provide support to people of all ages to assist them in overcoming personal barriers to participation. There are a variety of adaptive equipment/aids for anyone needing assistance.

Participation Program

To ensure that cost is not a barrier to accessing services, the Participation Program offers reduced admissions and program fees to residents who meet financial eligibility. Participation Flyer [PDF, 97KB]

Leisure Access Program

Designed for adults with a mental illness who have a desire to renew or extend their leisure lifestyle but may require additional support. This is a specialized service in partnership with the Ministry of Health, Fraser Health Region. If your group or organization would like to learn more about our leisure opportunities, we offer leisure education presentations.

Leisure Access Card

This card is available to people requiring additional support in order to participate in leisure programs. By presenting this card the participant is able to bring a support person along at no charge. (Fee of $5 per card/per year).

Be a Leisure Friend Volunteer

A leisure friend is a volunteer that provides support and friendship to people requiring some assistance while participating in any Parks and Leisure Programs or Services.
